Jennifer Ruth Shoe
Jennifer Ruth Shoe, 23, of Wilmington, formerly of Roanoke Rapids, completed her circle of life to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, after a courageous battle against melanoma cancer.
Jennifer was born in Florence, SC on June 24, 1985. She graduated high school from Halifax Academy in 2003, and then graduated with a degree in Business from ECU in 2007. Jennifer excelled in all that she attempted. She was an avid and accomplished athlete and entrepreneur. In 2007, Jennifer place fourth in the nation for female half pipe snowboarding and assisted her team to earn second place national women’s overall. Her hobbies included, snowboarding, wake boarding, surfing, wake skating and being just plain beautiful.
Jennifer loved the Lord and accepted Christ as her Savior and actively attended Port City Community Church in Wilmington.
She is survived by her loving fiancé, David Mercer, of Wilmington; her mother, Bonnie Shipley, of Wake Forest; her father and stepmother, Richard and Angie Shoe, of Roanoke Rapids; her siblings, Natalie and Cameron Shoe, Taylor Shipley, Brad and Carly Silver and was predeceased by her older sister, Christine Marie Shoe; she is also survived by her maternal grandparents, Ruth and Ed Walke, of Atlanta, Ga.; her paternal grandparents, Anne and Dwight Shoe, of China Grove; her step-grandparents, Carole and Horace Smith, of Richmond, Va.; and other aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 17, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Askew Funeral & Cremation Services,731 Roanoke Ave., Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 18, at 11:00 a.m., at Enterprise Baptist Church in Littleton with Rev. Darren Lambert officiating. Interment at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.
